Lazio looking at Serie A penalty record

Lazio are on the verge of equalling the record for most penalties in a single Serie A season, but there have been more spot-kicks this term in general too.

Ciro Immobile converted in last night’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina following a controversial decision based on Felipe Caicedo’s coming together with Bartlomiej Dragowski.

That was the 15th penalty Lazio have been awarded in Serie A this season, more than any other club.

Ciro Immobile converted in last night’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina following a controversial decision based on Felipe Caicedo’s coming together with Bartlomiej Dragowski.

That was the 15th penalty Lazio have been awarded in Serie A this season, more than any other club.

They already have 15 in 28 rounds, so could well break the all-time record set by Milan with 18 spot-kicks in 1950-51.

The 2019-20 season has already had 133 penalties awarded, considerably more than the 122 given throughout all of the 2018-19 campaign.

So far this term, Lazio received 15 penalties, Genoa 13, Lecce and Juventus 10, Roma 9, Atalanta, Sampdoria and Inter 8, SPAL 7, Fiorentina, Verona, Torino and Cagliari 6, Bologna 5, Milan 4, Brescia and Sassuolo 3, Parma and Napoli 2.

Only Udinese are yet to receive a single penalty this season.

When it comes to spot-kicks given against a team, Lecce, Brescia and Torino are out in front with nine, followed by Juventus, Udinese and Sassuolo with eight.

Lazio, however, have received fewer against them than any other club – three.
