Maurizio Sarri is again waiting for Lazio to make new signings, as they reportedly turn to Real Madrid’s Mario Gila and face Brighton competition for Verona midfielder Ivan Ilic.

The Biancocelesti have picked up 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Marcos Antonio from Shakhtar Donetsk, but so far there has been very little progress on the transfer market.

Lucas Leiva, Thomas Strakosha and Luiz Felipe Ramos have all left as free agents, while there are delays in getting the signatures of Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli and Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are now looking towards Real Madrid youth team player Gila, who turns 22 in August and plays as a centre-back.

He is under contract until June 2024, but could be available on loan with option to buy.

Another candidate for the attack as understudy to Ciro Immobile is Sampdoria veteran Francesco Caputo.

As for the midfield, Sarri has pin-pointed Ilic for weeks now as his main target, but the negotiations with Hellas Verona have hit a standstill.

They now also face competition from Premier League side Brighton, according to Sky Sport Italia.
