Lazio are waiting to swoop for Romania international Ianis Hagi, if Glasgow Rangers do not activate their option to buy from Genk, a return to Serie A after his Fiorentina spell.

The 21-year-old can play as a trequartista behind the strikers, or on either attacking flank, and is the son of Romania legend Gheorghe Hagi.

He is owned by Belgian club KRC Genk and joined Rangers on loan with option to buy for a reported €5m in January.

He is owned by Belgian club KRC Genk and joined Rangers on loan with option to buy for a reported €5m in January.

According to LaLazioSiamoNoi.it and the Daily Record, Biancocelesti director of sport Igli Tare is keeping close track of the situation and is ready to swoop if he doesn’t make it a permanent move.

There are rumours suggesting Hagi is already eager to leave Glasgow and try his luck elsewhere.

This would be a return to Italy, as he barely played during his spell at Fiorentina from July 2016 to January 2018.

It’s reported Genk would accept €10-12m to sell Hagi and Lazio currently sit in second place in Serie A, so ready to qualify for the Champions League.
