Lazio are being investigated for chants aimed at SPAL goalkeeper Alfred Gomis, a naturalised Italian who was born in Senegal.
Offensive chants directed at the 23-year-old were observed by representatives for the Procura Federale, but the Giudice Sportivo has asked for “further information and details to verify the discriminatory conduct sanctionable under Article 11”.
Evidence must be submitted to the Procuratore Federale by noon on September 1 to establish three things.
The first is the extent of the chanting relative to the size of the Curva Nord, as several Lazio fans had left before the start of the game in protest after stewards ordered a banner to be removed.
That banner, aimed at “a player signed to Lazio” has earned a fine of €3,000 for the club.
The second is the number of times the chants were repeated, their timing and how clearly they could be heard.
Finally it must be established whether Gomis was whistled due to specific incidents on the pitch, or for the whole first half.
Verona have been hit with a €30,000 fine for repeated chants based on “territorial origin” aimed at Napoli fans and Lorenzo Insigne.
Roma have been fined €20,000 after a firework was thrown onto the pitch, with Inter ordered to pay €10,000 for a song aimed at Fiorentina based on territorial origin.
On the pitch, Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj has been suspended for one game and given a warning after his red card in the win over Verona which denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Crotone’s Federico Ceccherini has been banned for one match after his red card against Milan.
