Lazio fans are increasingly frustrated with the tendency of Maurizio Sarri’s team to fumble points from leading situations, although it is oddly reversed in the Champions League.

The latest example was the 1-1 draw away to Hellas Verona on Saturday, despite Manuel Lazzari opening the scoring.

It means so far this season in Serie A, Lazio have already dropped 10 points after leading 1-0.

This is hardly a new issue for the Biancocelesti, as throughout last term they gave away an incredible 22 points from situations where they were in front.

However, there is also a curious twist, because the scenario is the complete opposite when it comes to Champions League fixtures.

They snatched a last-gasp draw with Atletico Madrid thanks to goalkeeper Ivan Provedel’s header, then came back from a goal down to beat Celtic 2-1.

This would point again to there being a problem in motivation, focus and determination from Lazio in the so-called ‘weaker’ fixtures.
