Lazio fans wrote a message against Simone Inzaghi at Formello: ‘Traitor and servant of modern football.’
Inzaghi leaves Lazio after spending 22 years at the club as a footballer and a coach.
His contract with the Biancocelesti expired in June 2021. On Wednesday, he had reached an agreement to extend his contract with the club, but the following day he changed his mind, agreeing to replace Antonio Conte at Inter.
Inzaghi has reportedly signed a two-year contract worth €4m-a-year with the Serie A champions.
The coach has been insulted by Lazio fans on social media and some ultras wrote a message against him at Lazio’s training ground in Formello.
“Inzaghi traitor and servant of modern football,” the message reads.
It continues with praise for the Women’s team head coach Carolina Morace who earned a promotion to Serie A this season: “Carolina save the shirt.”
According to reports in Italy, Walter Mazzarri and Sinisa Mihajlovic are two of the possible candidates to replace Inzaghi at Lazio.
