A group of far-right Lazio ultras reportedly confronted new signing Elseid Hysaj, who had sung the famous ‘Bella Ciao’ for his initiation song.

Hysaj joined the Biancocelesti as a free agent from Napoli, but the choice for his initiation song left many Lazio fans unhappy.

The Albania international sang ‘Bella Ciao’, which was adopted as an anthem of the anti-fascist resistance by the Italian partisans between 1943 and 1945.

The trouble is, many Lazio ultras share a far-right ideology, so they didn’t just hit out at the player on social media, but wanted to meet him in person at Auronzo Di Cadore last night.

According to Calciomercato.com, a group of Lazio ultras arrived at a restaurant last night, but the team had already left, so they met the player outside the team’s hotel along with Lazio sporting director Igli Tare and a group of police officers.

According to the report, new Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri wasn’t happy about the meeting as he doesn’t enjoy fans interference.
