Lazio have started to wake up in the final days of the January transfer window, considering a move for Federico Bernardeschi and sending Atalanta an offer for Nicolo Cambiaghi.
The Biancocelesti have not brought in any reinforcements yet in the opening three weeks of the mid-season transfer window, only sending out Toma Basic on loan to Salernitana. Maurizio Sarri has some clear weaknesses in his squad and concern is starting to rise amongst supporters.
Despite their shakiness, Lazio have managed to do well in recent months and sit sixth in the Serie A table, just a point behind fourth place Fiorentina. They’ve also qualified for the Champions League Round of 16, where they’ll face Bayern Munich.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio have started to consider offering a six-month contract to Bernardeschi, who is looking for a way out of Toronto FC. The 29-year-old is willing to lower his salary in order to push through the move, wanting to convince Italy coach Luciano Spalletti ahead of Euro 2024.
Lazio also presented an €8m offer to Atalanta for winger Cambiaghi, who is currently on loan at Empoli. The Bergamo outfit declined, wanting a higher fee.
