Lazio confirm that defender Alessio Romagnoli has been diagnosed with a right calf strain.
He was already ruled out of the squad for today’s Serie A trip to Salernitana after sustaining a muscular problem in training.
Now a statement has been released by the club following tests at the Paideia clinic in Rome.
It notes that Romagnoli has been diagnosed with a lesion to the right calf muscle.
This means that the Italy international is likely to be out of action for at least two to three weeks.
That would rule him out of the crucial Champions League clash with Celtic and possibly also Atletico Madrid on December 13.
There are also Serie A matches coming up against Cagliari and Verona, plus a Coppa Italia tie with Genoa on December 5.
Former Milan centre-back Romagnoli has made 16 appearances so far this season between Serie A and the Champions League, contributing one assist.
