Lazio and Napoli are considering an intriguing exchange of midfielders that would see Luis Alberto go to Naples and Piotr Zielinski reunite with Maurizio Sarri.

According to Sportitalia and Gazzetta dello Sport transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, the deal is entirely possible this summer.

Luis Alberto has often clashed with Sarri this season, finding himself regularly dropped from the midfield altogether and struggling with the 4-3-3 tactics after so many years of Simone Inzaghi and 3-5-2.

Zielinski had a poor campaign under Luciano Spalletti and is one of the players Napoli would like to sell, though his contract still runs to June 2024.

Both are valued at around €40-50m, so a straight swap is possible, or Zielinski plus cash for Luis Alberto.

The Poland international already worked with Sarri at Napoli and would relish a reunion.

He’s not the only one, as Dries Mertens is also linked with a free transfer to Lazio if he does not agree a new contract at vastly reduced wages with the Partenopei.
