Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is ready to become an Al-Hilal player, as it is reported Lazio and the Saudi Pro League club exchanged documents on the €40m deal.

The Serbia international is in the final year of his contract at the Stadio Olimpico and President Claudio Lotito confirmed on Monday that he had “begged” to be released for this transfer.

Al-Hilal were the only side to make a formal offer, as clubs including Juventus, Inter, Milan and Napoli were all put off by the €40m asking price.

That was not a problem for Al-Hilal, who are also reportedly paying Milinkovic-Savic a salary of €20m per season for three years, plus an option for a further season.

According to Sportitalia, the paperwork has been exchanged and the only thing remaining is for Lotito to sign the transfer.

Milinkovic-Savic had been at Lazio since leaving KRC Genk for €12m in the summer of 2015.

The 28-year-old made 341 competitive appearances for the Biancocelesti, contributing 69 goals and 59 assists.
