Lazio were held to a 1-1 draw in their pre-season runout against Serie C side Triestina on Sunday afternoon.

Matteo Guendouzi gave the Serie A side the lead from the penalty spot after eight minutes, but Lazio were pinned back by a Manuel Lazzarri own goal nine minutes from the 90th.

It was the third pre-season friendly of Lazio’s annual training camp in Auronzo, following tests against CS Auronzo and FC Trapani earlier in the week.

Marco Baroni named a relatively strong starting line-up for Sunday’s friendly, including what is effectively his strongest back line with no.1 Ivan Provedel, Adam Marusic, Patric, Alessio Romagnoli and Elseid Hysaj.

Goalscorer Guendouzi lined up alongside Matias Vecino and Nicolo Rovella in midfield, while Gustav Isaksen, Tijjani Noslin and Loum Tchaouna made up the front three.

The Biancocelesti were forced to do without Romagnoli for the second portion of proceedings, as he was withdrawn through injury after 39 minutes of action.

Baroni and his team will be back on the pitch in Germany next week for another pre-season friendly against 3. Liga side Hansa Rostock, who were relegated from the 2. Bundesliga at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Patric, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Rovella, Vecino, Guendouzi; Isaksen, Noslin, Tchaouna.
