Marko Lazetic has hardly made an impression in Milan since arriving in January but he’s keen to change that this season.

The 18-year-old Serbian striker was signed from Red Star Belgrade in the January transfer window in a deal worth around €4m, a sign of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara’s belief in him. Since his arrival, Lazetic has only made one first team appearance, spending more time with the youth teams.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Lazetic did not want to leave Milan in the summer and rejected offers from Spezia, Cagliari, Dutch and French teams in a bid to prove his value in the Lombardy capital.

Considering the injuries to Ante Rebic, Divock Origi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lazetic is now the backup to Olivier Giroud, thrusting him into the limelight once again. He was on the bench for the 2-1 loss to Napoli and has been working hard in Milanello.

Milan did not include Lazetic in their Champions League squad registration list, wanting him to continue his development, but the 18-year-old could soon find himself on the pitch in red and black again.
