The Argentine shot to fame while at Napoli and will be a free agent next summer when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires.
He has been repeatedly linked with Juventus, Inter or even a Napoli comeback.
“I miss Italy so much and particularly Italian football,” Pocho told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I am Argentinean and therefore accustomed to pressure. For us it’s better to experience football in an intense way, even when there’s a love-hate relationship.
“Naples is a very special city, but in all of Italy in general football is experienced with incredible intensity and you have more motivation.
“Here in Paris it’s a different experience. It’s not better or worse, you get to enjoy your life outside of the sport, but it’s certainly different.
“Perhaps Italian football isn’t what it was in the past, but it’s still wonderful to experience and play. It’s fascinating, it makes you feel like a footballer who is alive, pushing you to the limits. I have Italian TV and watch all the games.”
Napoli are in a Scudetto showdown with leaders Inter on Monday night. Lavezzi has been linked to both clubs, and Juventus, so who is he cheering on?
“I just hope for a great game and I think it will be. Napoli play well, this is the right year to win the Scudetto and the players know that. Inter also have a chance at the title, though.
“It seems like a very open and hard-fought title race. I like Napoli and I’m pleased if they are successful, because Napoli are a second home. The only team I support, though, is Rosario Central.
“I have a lot of options and a few months to make the right decision for me. This really is my final contract, so I am interested in joining a club that can motivate me, plus a city that is nice to live in.”
Lavezzi admits his time at Paris Saint-Germain is practically over, but not because of the recent terrorist attacks in the city.
“I am more out than in, even if in my line of work you can never tell. Maybe I’ll suddenly drop everything and go back to Argentina.
“I believe in destiny, so I’ll experience this moment as a passing situation and it seems to me Parisians are doing the same. Right now people are afraid walking down the street and you can’t say it’s like it was before.
“It’s horrible when civilians are caught up in issues they might not even understand. We know so little about what happens in certain countries and it’s not easy to get a good idea of what is at the root of all this chaos, this war. But we must continue to live.
“If I had my family here, I might think differently, but I am alone in Paris. With children and a wife here with me it’d be more worrying.”
Finally, Lavezzi confessed he has taken up yoga.
“I like the breathing techniques, the idea of concentrating so you are more in contact with your own mind and body.”
