The Partenopei prepare to take on Chelsea in the second leg of their Last 16 clash on Wednesday evening, 3-1 up from the first leg.

“We’re counting down the minutes and the big match in the Champions League in London moves nearer,” commented El Pocho on Monday.

“We arrive in this game in the best way, after six consecutive wins and in high spirits. It will be a battle at a sold out Stamford Bridge, but we are ready and focused, knowing that we have a date with history.”

Meanwhile, teammate Paolo Cannavaro also expressed to Radio Marte his eagerness to make the most of the opportunity open to the team.

“We are very relaxed at the moment. The team must stay tranquil and not allow for tension to catch them out for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

“For what we did, it is natural to say that whatever happens it will be a success. We still want to move forward, though, and continue our Champions League adventure.

“We must forget the 3-1 lead, otherwise it could be harmful. We will have 3,000 fans on our side and they will not be outdone by the crowd at Stamford Bridge, even if the game is won on the field.

“Napoli will fight to the maximum. It is a matter of fear, the Milan match [at Arsenal last week] was definitely a warning and we know what awaits us, but on the level of intensity and aggression, we will be there – there will be fighting and suffering.

“The first half will be crucial, the Rossoneri were massacred at the Emirates in their first 45 minutes.”

The captain also had a request for the travelling Napoli fans.

“It is not to be trifled with, the rules are very strict. It takes responsibility and self-respect to not encounter problems in England.

“The club has made a statement which is there to protect our people and of course it should be followed to the letter.”
