According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will listen to offers for Lautaro Martinez in the summer and have targeted Gianluca Scamacca, Paulo Dybala and Lille’s Jonathan David to reinforce their attack.

The Argentinean striker signed a contract extension until 2026 only a few months ago, but continues to receive attention from many clubs around Europe.

Despite his 11 goals in 22 Serie A games this term, Lautaro hasn’t scored in any of the last 13 Champions League games with the Nerazzurri. His last goal in Europe’s elite competition is dated back to November 2020 against Real Madrid and the Argentinean has been struggling to adapt to his new striking partner Edin Dzeko.

For all these reasons, Inter would consider selling El Toro for an adequate offer in the summer.

The Nerazzurri are already planning ahead and want to close the gap with the best teams in Europe. Sassuolo‘s Gianluca Scamacca is one of their main transfer targets for 2022-23, but the Italy international would be a back-up for Dzeko next season, becoming the main Inter striker from 2023-24.

Inter have targeted two other forwards in case Lautaro leaves. One is Paulo Dybala, who sees his Juventus contract expire at the end of the season. The Serie A champions are open to offering La Joya €7m per season, the same as he gets at Juventus and just as much as Alexis Sanchez earns at San Siro.

The Chile international could also leave in the summer. Inter have an option to terminate his contract by mutual agreement by paying €4.5m at the end of the current campaign. The Nerazzurri have also monitored Lille’s Jonathan David. The price tag for the Canada international is €50m, but his agent Nick Mavramaras said last month that his client ‘will surely leave Lille at the end of the season.’

11 thought on “Lautaro’s Inter future in doubt as Marotta targets attacking reinforcements”
  1. Always thought he was overrated. Struggles in the big games. As for Dybala going to Inter, that’s becoming fantasy by the day.

  2. If so they should’ve sold him last season or the one before when they had the chance to cash in over 100m from his sale.

No way anyone will pay over 60, 70m tops for him now, which is still a lot of money, but half of what they could’ve potentially get before. Maybe they could’ve kept Lukaku, too.

  3. Wait a minute! Alexis earns 7m at Inter to sit on the bench?! Jesus, how are they not top of Serie A by 10 clear points right now?

That’s what Zlatan earns and he’s the highest earner in Milan.

  4. @Debu Yeah. Marotta is an expert at signing players aged 28+ to long contract. He is great at short term success but terrible when it come to planning for the future.

  5. I don’t understand why Inter would sell Lautaro and bring Dybala in to replace him if that came to fruition. Both do not score enough goals and when it comes to the crunch they fade.

  6. Selling lautaro would be madness

The problem is that he can’t play with that old donkey dzeko.

Buy a proper partner for lautaro and get rid of dzekosaurus

  7. why would inter sell him when they just renewd. the reinforcements will be added to Lautaro.
Dzeko is not long term or Sanchez. So thats two players to replace. Scamacca is a young Dzeko.
