“Romelu works so hard for the team and sometimes I have to start the runs early to keep up with him on those counter-attacks,” Martinez told Sky Sport Italia.
“I was a little tired, but I’ve done the recovery work in training and feel ready now whenever the coach wants to use me.”
This result means Inter are top of the Serie A table going into next week’s Derby della Madonnina with Milan.
“We are very happy to be out there in front of everyone, it’s what we’ve been working for. As the coach said, this has to be only the beginning, so we must keep hold of first place and not let it go.
“There’s the derby on Sunday, if we want to stay up there, we have to keep working the way we have been so far.”
