Lautaro proves leadership as Inter prepare for contract talks

Lautaro Martinez is continuing to prove himself the central figure in the Inter project and the club are gearing up to offer him a new long-term contract.

The 26-year-old Argentinian forward was the hero in the club’s Champions League opener against Real Sociedad, netting the late equaliser, and he again proved his leadership skills both on the pitch and in the dressing room afterward, unhappy the team failed to take home all three points.

Lautaro has already started the season in fine fashion, scoring six goals and providing two assists across five appearances in Serie A and the Champions League.

Pages 16 and 17 of today’s Corriere dello Sport detail how Inter have no doubts about the talismanic status of Lautaro and are preparing to start contract negotiations, keen to extend his deal beyond it’s current 2026 deadline.

The 26-year-old, who was recently named club captain, is entering his sixth season with the club and is the clear star of their new era.
