Lautaro Martinez reveals he ‘spoke to Romelu Lukaku every day from the moment he left’ Inter for Chelsea and was the first to get the good news of his return.

The Argentina international opened the scoring on an assist from Lukaku, before Hakan Calhanoglu and Tucu Correa completed the 3-0 rout against Spezia this evening.

“It was wonderful. We were facing a very solid squad that presses well, but we did great work and must continue, as there’s a long road ahead of us,” Lautaro Martinez told Sky Sport Italia.

The opening goal was the return of the Lu-La partnership at San Siro, circa 500 days since their last game together in this venue, interrupted by the move to Chelsea.

Lukaku had confessed that Lautaro Martinez was the first to know he was returning to Inter.

“I am very happy he came back, because he said we need to battle against everyone. He’ll give us a big hand and we will continue battling alongside him.

“We kept in contact and spoke every day from the moment he left. He is a great help to this team. We all want to keep improving, we have four talented strikers and all bring different characteristics.”

There was news this week that Inter have taken Milan Skriniar off the market, even if Paris Saint-Germain raise their offer.

“Skriniar is a very important player for us and everyone knows it. We’ll fight to win everything.”
