Lautaro Martinez claims his Instagram account was hacked and laughed off ‘ridiculous false rumours’ his wife had left him for Inter teammate Romelu Lukaku.

The bizarre story appeared in Argentine newspaper Ole after the striker suddenly shut down his Instagram account.

This inevitably sparked online gossip on Twitter, all of which was swept aside by Lautaro Martinez today.

“Why do you invent stories on our possible separation? My wife and I are together and very happy, there is nothing to explain or clarify.

“We are happy, we want to enjoy our time together. Do not listen to ridiculous false rumours. Last night someone hacked and closed my Instagram account, but fortunately this morning I was able to get it back!”

This accompanied a photograph of Lautaro Martinez and his wife Agustina Gandolfo together by the side of a pool.

They met in 2018 and welcomed daughter Nina into the world in February 2022.

Lautaro Martinez is very good friends with Lukaku, as the Belgium international confirmed he was the first person in the squad who knew of an imminent return from Chelsea this summer.

They live close by and can wave to each other from their respective apartment balconies.

It is hardly the first time that false stories have emerged in the Inter camp regarding wives of players.

Mauro Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara sued a website that claimed she was having an affair with Marcelo Brozovic, which went as far as releasing a supposed audio of the confession that was very clearly not the voices of the people concerned.
