Lautaro Martinez praises Simone Inzaghi after the latest thumping victory over Udinese. ‘You can see the influence of the coach and we play with his ideas of football.’
This was another absolutely dominant performance from the Nerazzurri, who brushed Udinese aside 4-0 at San Siro.
It was already comfortably done by half-time with a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty, the Federico Dimarco angled drive and Marcus Thuram finishing off a team move with 21 consecutive passes.
Lautaro Martinez sealed it late on with the fourth goal, winning it back himself in midfield to surge forward and blast from outside the box.
“It is certainly a great team, we work hard every day in training, you can see the influence of the coach and we play with his ideas of football,” Lautaro Martinez told Sky Sport Italia.
“It is not easy to always play after Juventus knowing they won, but it was important to give a response. Now we must continue like this and when the coach needs us, we will all be ready.”
The Lautaro Martinez goal came due to a high press, as he won the ball back in midfield and smashed in the finish.
“We press very high and that allows us to win the ball back quickly, create scoring opportunities and keep the opposition pinned back. The first half had a lot of intensity, we’re very pleased.
“We’ve been working really well with this coach for three years now, we continue to improve and show we deserve to be at this level.”
The Argentina international has now scored 28 goals in 2023 at club level, including 14 in 15 Serie A games this season.
Since 2000, only Christian Vieri and Diego Milito managed so many goals in a single calendar year for Inter.
“I am very proud, I work hard to help my teammates and Inter. I just have to keep working.”
The captain said this week he would gladly sign the contract extension tomorrow, but the details are still being ironed out.
“The important thing is to be concentrated, my agent and family are taking care of it. I’m relaxed.”
