Lautaro Martinez is the best scorer in Serie A in 2023 and could become the most prolific Inter striker in a calendar year, beating István Nyers.
Lautaro has netted 27 goals in Italy’s top flight since January and is the best scorer in the league in 2023 with four more goals than Napoli star Victor Osimhen, last season’s Capocannoniere in Serie A.
Lautaro has averaged one goal every 90 minutes in league games this year and, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 16, he could become the most prolific Inter player in a calendar year.
The record belongs to ex-Hungarian striker István Nyers, scorer of 32 goals for Inter in 1951. Milito is below two other Nerazzurri legends such as Christian Vieri and Diego Milito who netted 28 times each in 2001 and 2012 respectively.
El Principe is not only a close friend but also a former teammate of Lautaro who made his Racing senior debut in 2015 replacing the former Nerazzurri star.
Lautaro scored his most recent Serie A goal on Sunday, helping Inter secure a 1-1 draw against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
Inter have five Serie A games left before the end of the year, against Napoli, Udinese, Lazio, Lecce and Genoa.
