A goal from Inter captain Lautaro Martinez allowed Argentina to win the Copa America Final against Colombia and helped him become the best scorer in the competition.

Lautaro Martinez’s Argentina won the Copa America for the second time running thanks to a goal in the extra time from the Inter captain.

This means that the 26-year-old not only lifted the trophy with his national team but was also the best scorer in the competition, with five goals in 221 minutes.

Lautaro’s triumph with Argentina came only a few months after Inter’s Serie A title victory, inspired by El Toro, the best league scorer in 2023-24 with 24 goals.

Lautaro’s contract at the Stadio Meazza expires in June 2026, but he will soon sign a new deal with the Serie A giants as already announced by his agent and the Nerazzurri president Beppe Marotta.

Lautaro joined Inter in 2018 from Racing Club and has netted 103 Serie A goals in 206 appearances.

Immobile had 201 goals in 363 appearances.

Basically if continues like this, Lautaro will need 400+ appearances to beat Immobiles record who is 8th in all time goalscorers behind Roberto Baggio in 7th with 205 goals in 452 appearances.
