Although Lautaro Martinez picked up a World Cup winner’s medal in Qatar, the Inter star did not impress at the tournament but has since bounced back in style and proven himself a star.

The 25-year-old hoped to display his skills on the world stage in Qatar but failed to show his best across his six appearances, failing to score or provide an assist as Argentina went on to lift the trophy. Lautaro was clearly off the mark at the World Cup and left Nerazzurri fans concerned ahead of Serie A’s restart last month.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lautaro has found himself a player reborn following the World Cup, becoming a talismanic figure and focal point for Inter. The 25-year-old has scored five goals in six Serie A games in the new year and also netted in the Supercoppa Italiana win over Milan.

The Argentinian striker’s market value has now risen to around €100m, but regardless the Nerazzurri have no intention of selling the player, who is continuing to prove himself an invaluable part of Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
