Lautaro Martinez does not believe that Inter have a chance of winning the Scudetto this season following their poor start.

The Nerazzurri currently sit 7th in the league table after 11 games, sitting eight points behind league leaders Napoli. Inter lost four of their opening eight league matches but have seemingly righted the ship in recent weeks, winning their last three consecutive outings. Simone Inzaghi’s side are now gearing up for an important Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen.

Speaking to Rai Sport after the win over Fiorentina, Lautaro first commented on the upcoming Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen.

“Very well, because we have trained well. We’re thinking about recovering and preparing for Wednesday’s challenge.”

He then confirmed that he doesn’t believe Inter can still aim for the Scudetto this season.

“No, because we’ve lost too many important points so we’re just think about recovering.”

The 25-year-old Lautaro has scored six goals and provided two assists in 11 Serie A matches this campaign, looking strong despite the team’s difficulties on the pitch. He’ll be keen to work alongside Romelu Lukaku again up front, although the Belgian still hasn’t reached full fitness following a recent hamstring injury.
