"We were calmer today we retained the ball possession, handling it with patience and we found the spaces.

“Paredes saw the movement I made and made a good pass to finalize. I think we played very well today and we are very happy,” the Inter forward said.

The Seleccion had been held to a 1-1 draw against Paraguay on Friday but have now three wins in four World Cup qualifying games.

“With Paraguay I did not have a good match and I had failed a simple goal,” Lautaro admitted.

“Today I had to redeem myself, mostly on a personal level because I have to work for the team.”

Lautaro and Paredes could soon play in the same club as well as the Nerazzurri are reportedly trying to swap Christian Eriksen with the former Roma and Empoli midfielder.
