Inter forward Lautaro Martinez revealed he has ‘created a beautiful friendship’ with Romelu Lukaku and said the Scudetto was ‘a special moment’ for the Nerazzurri. ‘It’s my first title’.

Lautaro arrived from Racing Club in July 2018, but had to wait three years for his first trophy with the Beneamata.

The 23-year-old currently participates in the Copa America with Argentine and arrives after having contributed 17 goals and 10 assists in Serie A 2020-21.

The centre-forward admitted the Champions League exit was a wake-up call for the Nerazzurri.

“When we exited the Champions League, we talked a lot and I think we saw it, even in training,” Lautaro told the club’s official YouTube channel.

“We were a united group and that’s very important.”

The Argentine revealed he has created a ‘beautiful friendship’ with Belgium international Romelu Lukaku.

“When Lukaku arrived at Inter, we talked a lot and a bond was created, a true and beautiful friendship,” he continued. “I love him, he loves me, we work for the good of Inter, to win.”

Lautaro praised full-back Matteo Darmian, who contributed with some decisive goals in 2020-21.

“Matteo always trains well, he’s always positive,” Lautaro added. “He plays at the right or at the left, he’s ready in front of goal.

“Guys like him are important in the team.

“We are enjoying this moment because it’s special for us,” he admitted. “For me, it’s the first title.

“We did something really important and we are happy with what we managed to take, a very important Scudetto for us.”
