The brother of Lautaro Martinez’s agent said there is “a very good chance he will join Barcelona,” which was quickly quashed by the Inter striker’s representatives.

Sergio Zarate is the brother of Rolando Zarate, who along with Beto Yaque acts as the Argentina international’s assistant.

He spoke to Fox Sports in South America and did not hold back on the next move.

“Lautaro is playing at Inter now, but trust me, he will certainly go to Spain next. There’s a very good chance he will join Barcelona. He’s a great player with no limits to his capabilities.

“The player will ultimately decide, but the fact that Lionel Messi wants to have him in the team can make his dreams come true.”

Beto Yaque quickly clarified the situation with a comment on SOS Fanta, pointing out that Sergio Zarate knows Lautaro Martinez, but is in no way a representative, nor connected to the agency.

There is a €111m release clause in the contract, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid also interested.
