Alejandro Camano, the agent of Inter star Lautaro Martinez, provided an update on the contract talks with the club, confirming that no agreement had been reached yet.
The 26-year-old Argentinian striker was again the hero for the Nerazzurri this week, scoring a last-minute goal against Napoli to secure the club’s third consecutive Supercoppa Italiana, a trophy that brings €8m in prize money.
Lautaro, who is contracted to Inter to June 2026, is the club captain and clear talisman in the squad, scoring 21 goals and providing five assists in 27 games across all competitions this term. He has quickly formed a strong partnership with new signing Marcus Thuram.
Speaking to Radio Sportiva via TMW, Camano was first asked if Lautaro had now reached his full maturity, hitting new heights this term.
“Lautaro is important in Italian and European football, today I believe that with Haaland they’re the best two centre forwards in Europe, he and Inter have improved a lot, they are the second-best team in Europe that have reached an incredible footballing level, we are very happy.”
The agent provided an update on the contract renewal talks with Inter.
“Lautaro is at a very high level, finding an agreement isn’t easy, there are many aspects to discuss. Today there’s still no real agreement, so we’ll stay calm and talk with Inter constantly. Now the important thing is the team, the moment, and he is happy.
“Lautaro arrived when he was a boy and has grown a lot, today he is a complete player, he is the captain, he has two and a half years on his contract, there is a lot of time to talk, so we’ll negotiate. Today the focus is on doing great in Serie A and the Champions League.”
He spoke about his ability to work well with his fellow centre forwards.
“In football, over time the protagonists emerge. Many centre forwards have played with Lautaro, from Lukaku to Dzeko to Thuram, the truth is that he is generous and whoever plays with him becomes the protagonist, he is a true captain, he works for the team.
“What we notice is that humanly he is good, humble, he fits well in his team and has a project, then if we reach an agreement very well, otherwise everyone in football is a professional. The ideas are close, for now there is no agreement, and we are working towards this.”
Finally, Camano discussed the work of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.
“Today the Inter coach is a top coach in European football, Ancelotti is number one coaching the most important team, but Simone Inzaghi is great, he is demonstrating his abilities.
“Inter lost a Champions League final in a great match and a very important performance and today they are leading the league, they’re a strong group, we must be happy if we reach the end of the season in command of Serie A.”
