According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter star Romelu Lukaku underwent an MRI scan on Monday which highlighted ‘improvements’ and his physical condition will be assessed daily.

The Chelsea loanee has only made five appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring two goals, one in Serie A and one in the Champions League. He had been forced to the sidelines for over a month due to a muscle injury and was once again sent to the treatment table after his second appearance following his return.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the 29-year-old underwent an MRI scan in Belgium on Monday and the exams ‘highlighted an improvement in his condition’. Belgium’s medical staff will now assess his fitness daily.

Lukaku has joined his compatriots in Kuwait where the Red Devils are preparing for Qatar 2022.

They will make their debut on Wednesday, November 23 against Canada but Lukaku s not expected to be available and could only return to action for the knock-out phase.

“Romelu is medically not fit, I think that’s clear. Romelu is receiving treatment and has the opportunity to get himself fully fit before our first game,” Belgium CT Martinez said at a press conference last week.

“Medically, we feel Lukaku could make the second part [of the World Cup], we must be responsible and think of all the possible scenarios, we think he can have a big impact in this World Cup.”
