Juventus star Angel Di Maria partially trained with the rest of the team today, so the Bianconeri hope he can be available against Benfica on Wednesday.

The Argentina international has only collected two appearances with the Old Lady so far this season, missing five games due to injuries.

However, he partially returned to group training this morning, two days before Juventus’ home Champions League clash with Benfica.

“After last night’s 2-2 draw against Salernitana, Juventus convened at Continassa this morning to start preparing for their next match against Benfica,” Juventus said in a statement.

“Just like last week, it will be a midweek Champions League match, taking place this Wednesday 14th (21:00 CEST), as the Champions League returns to Allianz Stadium for the first time this season.

“Coming into today’s session, the work was divided as follows: recovery for those who took to the field last night and technical exercises on ball possession for the finishing on crosses and a mini-match for the remaining part of the group.

“Wojciech Szczesny went through a personalised work out, whilst Angel Di Maria trained partially with the team.

“Tomorrow, the team will train at 11:30 CEST at the Training Center and then in the afternoon at 14:30 CEST, Juventus will hold their pre-match press conference.”

Di Maria scored and assisted in his first-ever competitive appearance with the Old Lady against Sassuolo on August 15. He signed a one-year deal with the Bianconeri this summer after the end of his contract with PSG.

His second and last appearance came in a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi where he played just 45 minutes. He missed last week’s Champions League opening group stage game against his former club at the Parc des Princes.

Juventus lost 2-1 in Paris this past Tuesday, while Benfica beat Maccabi Haifa 2-0 at home.

The Old Lady is now four points behind table leaders Napoli, Milan and Atalanta in Serie A and visit Monza at the U-Power Stadium on Sunday in the last league match before the international break.
