Lapo Elkann, brother of the head of the Agnelli family John Elkann, spoke out against Massimiliano Allegri following Juventus’ 1-1 draw with Bologna.

The 44-year-old Italian businessman is never afraid to speak his mind on social media and he’s again sparked controversy following his comments about the Bianconeri coach following their frustrating last gasp draw against the Rossoblu on Saturday.

In a tweet written by Elkann after the full time whistle, he expressed his unhappiness, noting “we are not very happy! Allegri…” The fans are already divided over Allegri and many were frustrated that such a prominent figure had waded into the debate as well.

Elkann was not deterred by this, however, and followed up on Sunday evening with another cryptic message. He wrote: “Lapo doesn’t matter. Since yesterday some journalists&friends(?) (a few) have been rushing to repeat this. I think you guys are a bit nervous.

“Don’t waste your time on those who don’t matter. Happy Easter and forza Juve.

“PS: the men pass, Juve stays.”

This has drawn some ire from certain Juventus fans, who noted that he wrote on Twitter back in May 2020: “Thank you and Forza Napoli, my second team.”

Allegri’s future is still unclear but initial signs suggest that he’ll be backed for at least another season, with the upcoming summer transfer window being an important factor.

  1. this is all angelli fault .. making projects and not seeing them out .. 3 coaches within 4 years … I rather give pirlo the reigns r sarri than to see this bloody bloke kill juventus even further .. angelli and allegri out… Juventus president has no idea about football.. Getting rid of dybala is another major issue . he dybala can play 9 games all season and he’ll still contribute more than everyone else but Juve president looking for scapegoat..

  2. Until John smells the coffee and be braver nothing changes. Welcome to a dawn of a new era where 1mph Max will see out his 4 years and be putting many people to sleep, before, during and after matches.

  3. Pragmatic or not, Allegri is Juve’s winning manager in generations. Agnelli made a huge error in firing Max when to told him the club needed a rebuild three years ago. Fans comparing Pirlo’s accomplishments as a manager to Allegri’s are as silly as anyone trying to compare Allegri to Pirlo as a player. Without Chiesa, McKennie and Locatelli, Allegri stopped the bleeding and moved Juve up the table into a CL spot. Had those three players stayed healthy, the club could have made a run at the Scudetto – even after the horrible start that followed Ronaldo’s late departure. There is no one who understands what it means to manage Juve any more than Allegri. The team will earn a CL bid. Success next year will depend on successfully on resolving the futures of Kean, Arthur, Ramsey, Rabiot and Alvaro. A Left back and central defender are a must, along with an experienced registra and a strike partner for the VL. The last thing we need is another fifth manager in five years. Juve has been woefully short of midfield talent for years. Solve that problem and Allegri will lead Juve back to the top of Serie A and more.
