Alessandro Del Piero Lapo Elkann

Lapo Elkann, one of the heirs to the Agnelli fortune, said he ‘agrees’ with bitter criticism of coach Max Allegri that warns ‘Juventus have no future’ with him in charge.

The Bianconeri suffered their second consecutive Serie A defeat, as after falling to Lazio, they were beaten 1-0 by Sassuolo this evening.

Once again, they failed to create any real attacking moves until conceding the Gregoire Defrel goal and by that point it was too late to turn the situation around.

Journalist Maurizio Pistocchi posted a comment on Twitter that was scathing in its analysis of the squad.

“Juve lose by a nose – Defrel goal – a game that Allegri’s Bianconeri played with few ideas and little quality. Sassuolo, also wasting three clear chances on the counter-attack, fully deserved their win.

“With this idea of football, Juventus have no future.”

Lapo Elkann, the cousin of Juve patron John Elkann and of former President Andrea Agnelli, gave this response to the tweet: “I agree.”

In another tweet aimed at the players more specifically, Elkann wrote: “It’s not that you can do better, you’ve got to do better. Shame on you.”

The Old Lady will learn on Wednesday whether or not the appeal against the 15-point Serie A penalty will be revoked, a decision that could completely transform their entire season.

If the penalty is removed, Juve would currently be in third place on 59 points, two behind Lazio on 61.
