Lapo Elkann fuels speculations of Alessandro Del Piero’s return to Juventus, saying: ‘If I could it would be one of the first ones I would choose.’
The former Bianconeri striker has recently returned to the Allianz Stadium for two Juventus matches and most Juventus fans hope he will permanently return to the club with an operative role.
Lapo Elkann, brother of Juventus owner John and cousin of former President Andrea Agnelli strongly backs Del Piero’s potential return to Turin, as confirmed on Twitter on Monday.
When a fan asked him to ‘bring him back home’, Lapo didn’t hold back: ” If I could it would be one of the first ones I would choose.”
Lapo is a die-hard Juventus fan but has no operative roles at the club even after a new board of directors was appointed in January after resignations from Agnelli and the previous board, including Pavel Nedved and Maurizio Arrivabene.
Exor, the holding company with a controlling stake in Juventus, has appointed Gianluca Ferrero as the club’s President while Maurizio Scanavino has replaced Arrivabene as the new CEO. Francesco Calvo has also returned to the club covering the role of Chief Football Officer.
