Genoa outcast Gianluca Lapadula is reportedly one of three players who Empoli are trying to sign this month.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Lapadula will leave Genoa in January and Empoli ‘appear to be at the front of the queue’ for the ex-Milan striker.
Big things were expected of the 28-year-old when he arrived from San Siro in the summer of 2017 but despite his loan turning permanent for €11m, the emergence of Krzysztof Piatek and Christian Kouame has seen him play just twice this season.

As for other arrivals, the newspaper claims the Tuscans are targeting SPAL’s Filippo Costa and Cagliari’s Marko Pajac to bolster their left-hand side, with Luca Antonelli reportedly set for Bologna.
In goal, Chievo veteran Stefano Sorrentino would have rejected the Azzurri so Lapadula’s Genoa teammate Federico Marchetti and Sampdoria’s Rafael are next on their hitlist.
