Genoa striker Gianluca Lapadula assures he has not suffered a serious injury, despite fears of ACL damage.

Lapadula lasted just 35 minutes of Genoa’s 1-0 defeat to Udinese on Sunday and underwent tests on Monday morning, amidst concerns that he had damaged knee ligaments.

However, he wrote on Instagram: “[It’s] an injury that isn’t serious and will keep me out for only a short while.

“It certainly won’t stop me! I thank everyone for their affection and the messages I’ve received.”

Indeed, a statement on the Rossoblu’s official website subsequently confirmed the 27-year-old would be out for around six weeks.

“Genoa CFC announce that player Gianluca Lapadula was subjected to MRI scans,” it read.

“The results of those tests showed an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

“His recovery time is subject to how the clinical picture develops, and he will be evaluated in around 45 days.”

Lapadula has yet to score for Genoa since arriving from Milan over the summer.
