Juventus and Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini reportedly met Andrea Agnelli yesterday and is tempted to join MLS side LAFC in the summer.

The veteran defender will play his final match at the Allianz Stadium against Lazio on Monday night. He has decided to leave Juventus with one year left in his contract following Italy’s failed attempt to qualify for Qatar 2022.

According to La Gazzetta, Chiellini met Juventus President Agnelli yesterday. They reportedly spoke about the defender’s plans for the future, with Chiellini making clear that he is not considering retiring and is tempted to move to America for one season.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that LAFC had made an offer to sign Chiellini in the summer and Gazzetta confirms they are in pole position to secure his signature. The 37-year-old would move to the USA at the end of June.

Chiellini will play his final game with Italy on June 1 against Argentina at Wembley Stadium. Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne will also leave Italy for the MLS at the end of the campaign, joining Toronto FC as a free agent.
