Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal has been mentioned as a possible alternative to Tammy Abraham for Roma, but his agent insists there has been ‘no contact.’

The French striker was reportedly propositioned to Roma as a ‘Plan B’ should Abraham refuse to leave Chelsea for a role at the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

It would be a double deal for Arsenal, who are the favourites to pick up Abraham even after Roma agreed a transfer fee with Chelsea for €40m.

“No, there are no ongoing negotiations in progress with Roma for Lacazette,” agent Jeremy Sutter of Score Agencies told LaRoma24.it.

“I have not had any contact with (Roma director of sport) Tiago Pinto.”

Lacazette is already 30 years old and commands a much higher salary than Abraham, but his contract with Arsenal is due to expire at the end of this season.

He was purchased from Olympique Lyonnais in 2017 for €53m.

The first choice for Roma remains Abraham and another meeting is set for today, after which if he has still not given the all-clear, then they will start looking to other alternatives.
