According to La Repubblica newspaper, Milan owner Gerry Cardinale considered hiring tennis star Novak Djokovic as the Rossoneri’s mental coach three months ago.

Repubblica claims Djokovic could have joined his former club Milan as a mental coach as club owner Gerry Cardinale considered hiring the tennis star only three months ago.

According to the report, Cardinale considered putting Djokovic under contract as one of his collaborators to work in close contact with Milan players who were struggling at that time.

Repubblica quotes sources from Milan’s ‘financial environment’ and it emerges that Djokovic should have supported the squad with motivational speeches, but the Serbian tennis star didn’t hold talks with Cardinale over a potential role at the Stadio Meazza.

Djokovic is a well-known Milan supporter. He watches the Rossoneri games at San Siro whenever possible and met Rafael Leao and Ismael Benacer this past November during the ATP Finals in Turin.
