Despite reports linking Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with a summer move to Barcelona, the Georgian ace’s father Badri is convinced his son will remain at Napoli in 2024-25.

Kvaratskhelia’s contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2027 but recent reports have linked with the 23-year-old with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season.

The winger’s father Badri doesn’t know where his son will play next season, but is convinced he will eventually remain at the Stadio Maradona.

“I am so happy with Napoli’s title and that my son Khvicha contributed to winning it. I am grateful to Italy and Naples for having welcomed and appreciated him as a person and as a footballer,” he told Radio Serie A.

“He’s the only one who can choose whether to stay at Napoli, but I think he will continue wearing the Napoli shirt. In any case, I will respect his decision.”

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis said in February that he would sit down with Kvara’s entourage at the end of the current campaign to discuss a contract extension.

The Georgian ace joined the Partenopei for just €13m in 2022 and didn’t sign a new deal when he was named Best Serie A Player for 2022-23, contributing to Napoli’s first Scudetto in 33 years.

This means the 23-year-old is currently earning circa €1.5m per season.

Kvaratskhelia has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season.
