Kvicha Kvaratskhelia explains why he feels so at home with Napoli and admits playing at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona ‘is when I truly felt like a professional footballer.’

The 21-year-old Georgia international has quickly become a fan favourite and attracted interest from all over the world for his performances.

Since his arrival from Dinamo Batumi for €10m over the summer, Kvara has scored eight goals and 10 assists in 17 appearances between Serie A and the Champions League.

“Neapolitans live for football, I realised that from the very first moment I arrived here,” Kvaratskhelia told students at the Federico II University.

“The first time I played at the Stadio Maradona is when I truly felt like a professional footballer.”

Napoli are top of the Serie A table ahead of the return of fixtures with a showdown against Inter on January 4.

They will also face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League Round of 16 in February.

“The people of Naples expect a lot from us, so it’s important to always work at the highest level. I thank them, because they give us so much love.

“Neapolitans and Georgians both put family first and foremost, which is also why I feel so at home here.”

Director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli also spoke to the media today and assured there was “absolutely no chance” Kvaratskhelia will be sold, regardless of the offer or where it comes from.

There had been suggestions Newcastle United were ready to pay €50m for the man they call Kvaradona, although it would require approximately double that to even get a foot through the door.
