Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia stopped celebrating Georgia’s historic qualification to the Round of 16 of the European Championship to hug his idol Cristiano Ronaldo last night.

Kvara and Georgia made history on Wednesday as they managed to qualify for the knock-out phase of Euro 2024 on their debut at a major tournament thanks to a 2-0 win against Portugal.

It was a game where the Napoli ace, scorer of one goal, could face his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kvara showed all his respect after the final whistle when he went to hug the ex-Juventus star seconds after the start of the celebration with his teammates.

It was an unforgettable moment for the Georgian, who was also named MOTM and swapped shirts with CR7.

Speaking about his future after the final whistle, Kvara said: “I respect [Antonio] Conte, he’s one of the best managers. I also respect Napoli; I love Napoli. I will decide my future after the Euros. Now I’m focused on the game vs Spain.”

Conte had reiterated at a press conference on Wednesday that Kvara would surely remain at the club beyond the summer.
