Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and his agent are confident Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis will ‘keep his word’ and provide a significantly improved new contract soon.

The attacking winger was snapped up from Dinamo Batumi in the summer of 2022 as practically an unknown for €13.3m and became one of the most important figures in their march towards the Scudetto.

This season started strong too, with three goals and five assists in 15 games between Serie A and the Champions League, yet he remains on the same salary as when first arriving (circa €1.4m) and on a deal that runs to June 2027.

“There will soon be an improvement to his contract,” agent Mamuka Jugeli told Sport Imedi in Georgia.

“De Laurentiis is a good man, a man who keeps his word, and has already done very good things for us. Clearly, Kvara is a top level player and deserves more, but he will receive that very soon.

“His family is satisfied and so is Kvicha. He has improved so much since coming to Napoli, in my view he is even better than last season. Kvara can play in any attacking role.”

In his debut Serie A season, the 22-year-old surprised everyone with 12 goals and 13 assists in just 34 games, while he also contributed two goals and four assists in nine Champions League fixtures.

“Nobody expected him to have a first season in Italy like that, except for him. When we were together in Naples, he told me what he planned to do in that first year, and he achieved it.”

Napoli are in flux after that title success, as Luciano Spalletti walked away, while Rudi Garcia was sacked, replaced by Walter Mazzarri last week.

“I can’t say anything about that, but even a child knows Napoli should not be losing to Empoli. Now they have an experienced coach and many competent people at the club.”

  1. I am glad he has good reps. He needs to stay in attack. Rudi messed up his style of play. He didn’t know if he should attack or track back. Too much talent to not win against any club.
