Napoli hit the headlines by using an expletive in a formal statement to describe reports Kvicha Kvaratskhelia was in talks for a new contract, so the Georgian’s agent assures ‘we never talked about wanting to change club.’

The Partenopei took a rather strong tone to respond to the rumours that Kvaratskhelia’s representatives were pushing for a move away from the Scudetto winners.

Their official statement described the claims as “bull****” and insisted his contract, which runs to June 2027, does not require any adjustments.

There does appear to be some confusion over who is entitled to speak for Kvaratskhelia, as some figures have been talking to the media on his behalf claiming to also be negotiating with Napoli.

“I am the only person who can talk about Kvaratskhelia’s contract. Only me,” agent Mamuka Jugeli told CalcioNapoli24.

“Kvara has been at Napoli for just over a year and we have a fantastic rapport with the directors of Napoli, so we can only say good things about them. We feel very much at home in Naples and I can officially confirm that we never talked about wanting to change club. This was never a situation we even considered.

“We also did not discuss renewing the contract. We are happy with the deal that we have with Napoli and Kvara’s objective is to confirm the Scudetto won last season and have a good run in the Champions League.

“He is very happy at Napoli, happy with the fans, he is in a very strong club and feels that this is his home. I don’t care what the media says. If the President considers it opportune to renew the contract, then we are ready to discuss it, but frankly nobody is unhappy with the current situation.”

There have been links with some of Europe’s biggest clubs over the summer, including Liverpool and above all Real Madrid, which were further boosted when the Merengues were placed in the same Champions League group as the Partenopei.

“I say once again, we are not considering the option of leaving Napoli. Maybe one day when Kvara will be ready to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona, that will be evaluated in future, but Napoli are a team with players like Osimhen, Di Lorenzo and Zielinski, so there is no reason to leave.”
