Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was honest when discussing his six-month goal drought but underlined his happiness after scoring in Napoli’s win over Udinese.

The Partenopei secured a 4-1 victory over the Friulian outfit thanks to goals from Piotr Zielinski, Victor Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia and Giovanni Simeone. It was a much-needed three points from Rudi Garcia’s squad, putting them fifth in the Serie A table after six matches.

Kvaratskhelia hadn’t netted for Napoli since March 19 of this year, causing some concern from supporters, but his goal against Udinese will give him a key boost in confidence heading into a crucial stage of this season.

Speaking to DAZN on the live broadcast after the match, Kvaratskhelia first reacted to his goal and Napoli’s win over Udinese.

“Of course I missed this feeling, in football everyone can feel a bit anxious after not scoring for six months, but I am back, I am happy and glad to have helped the team.

“I think we realised that we have to keep winning, because we didn’t win after Sassuolo. With the coach we decided to play like this, we have the ball and I think we deserved the victory today.”

He was then asked if this was the real Napoli side following their slow start to the campaign.

“Maybe. We have good players, it doesn’t matter who scored today, we have to be at our best. Forza Napoli!”

Napoli’s next game is against Lecce on September 30 and they’ll face Real Madrid in the Champions League a few days after that on October 3.
