Dejan Kulusevski admits he found his Juventus experience ‘very frustrating,’ but has improved everything at Tottenham Hotspur, taking several side-swipes at Max Allegri.

The Swede made the move in January on loan until June 2023 for €10m, with an obligation to buy for €35m if certain conditions are met.

It looks as if Spurs intend to buy him outright regardless, as he has impressed so much in such a short space of time, scoring two goals and providing four assists in 11 competitive games.

“Things can change so quickly for a player,” Kulusevski said in a press conference while on international duty for Sweden ahead of the World Cup play-offs.

“There were many things at Juventus that weren’t working and it was very frustrating. At Tottenham, there’s a breath of fresh air, I have a better rapport with the coach, I was trained better and my physique has improved.”

Kulusevski turns 22 next month and never did get along with Allegri, complaining the coach could not find the right position for him to give his best.

The latest comments will raise eyebrows back in Turin, insisting the training regime and his fitness levels have improved, because Juventus are currently decimated by muscular injuries.

With Paulo Dybala about to leave as a free agent largely due to the number of injuries he’s had over the years, could another player flourish away from the Juventus coaching staff?

  1. The injuries at Jive must be looked at seriously by the management. Something must change urgently. We can’t tell if it’s Allegri’s regime or the fitness staff or the medical. But this puzzle musy be solved.

  2. I’ve been saying that Allegri teams get an disproportionate amount of injuries since his AC Milan days, I’m just not sure if it’s the same fitness coach the whole time or not, but I’ve noticed this trend for nearly a decade now.

  3. Good luck Kulu, I hope you continue to do well. However, you are still a Juve player so don’t be getting overly excited in your dealings with the tabloids

  4. Kulu was being paid handsomely and didn’t earn his money at Juve. He’s playing for a contract now so his energy is high but at Juve, he was sluggish and gave the ball away in dangerous positions. A liability. Of course, he had potential but not the mentality of a leader. Tottenham is his level.
