“I have an agreement with Parma, and when I have finished this season, I will sit down with my agent and my family to decide what’s best for me. There’s nothing to think about right now, I’m just focused on Parma.”

His form has earned him his first call up to the Swedish national team and he admitted it came as a shock to him.

“I was at Parma and I stayed on a pitch for a bit longer with a teammate, then [fellow Swede Riccardo] Gagliolo came out from the dressing room and shouted that I had been called up,” he said.

“I asked, ‘for what’, and he said, ‘the national team’. I didn’t believe him. But I went inside and checked my phone to see that he was right, there it was written ‘Kulusevski’.”

Sweden are facing Romania on Friday night in a decisive match between two sides fighting for the second automatic qualification from Group F in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

On Monday they finish off the qualification campaign at home to the Faroe Islands.
