Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski and Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg will eventually return to the Sweden squad and participate in Euro 2020 this summer.

The two Serie A players had tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the European Championship, but they are fine and close to recovering.

“Dejan Kulusevski and Mattias Svanberg will rejoin the squad then whey are guaranteed infection-free,” Sweden wrote in a statement on Twitter, before thanking all the players on stand-by in case they were needed ahead of tonight’s match against Spain.

Sweden CT Janne Andersson was happy to learn the Juventus winger and the Bologna midfielder will be available for Euro 2020, as Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic misses the tournament due to a knee injury.

“It’s nice that Mattias and Dejan are well and can return to the squad,” Andersson said, according to TMW. “Our medical team has remained in close contact with the players, it will be very nice to meet the lads again.”

The national team doctor Anders Valentin also commented on the situation: “We have had daily contact with both Dejan and Mattias and both are fine.

“We obviously followed the restrictions that apply in Sweden, and we are completely confident that the lads will return to us as soon as they are no longer infectious.”
