Questions are raised over Max Allegri’s methods at Juventus as both Dejan Kulusevski and Matthijs de Ligt have claimed they are training harder now than when they were in Turin.
Kulusevski and De Ligt have left Juventus in the last nine months. The Swede joined Tottenham on an initial loan deal in January, while De Ligt picked Bayern Munich over the summer.
Both players have recently suggested that the Bianconeri’s training methods are not intense as in England or Germany, raising even more doubts over Max Allegri’s management.
The Bianconeri boss is under fire after losing three of their opening nine Serie A games this season, winning only two.
“Both training regimes are hard, but in Italy, it’s more about tactics and systems, less intensity and above all less sprinting,” De Ligt said in September after Bayern’s 2-0 win over Inter in the Champions League.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsman had claimed something very similar in July, weeks after De Ligt’s move to Germany: “I spoke to him after training and he said the session was his hardest in four years. It was hard, but it wasn’t that hard.”
Likewise, Kulusevski didn’t seem impressed by the workloads at Continassa as confirmed in his latest interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport today.
“We work hard every day, more than I did in Italy. I love the way we work here in London. Surely it is the coach’s merit. I am so happy to play for him,” he said.
“At Tottenham, we work much more in the gym and the results are there. My world has changed. I have to say that I’ve never met a person who is as motivated as Conte in my life.”
Juventus resume their season this coming Sunday in a home game against Thiago Motta’s Bologna at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
