New Tottenham signing Dejan Kulusevski says he learned a lot in Italy playing for Atalanta, Parma and Juventus and admits he moved to North London also thanks to Antonio Conte.
The Sweden international has joined Spurs on loan until June 2023 with an option to buy.
Tottenham could pay up to €45m to secure his services permanently. They will invest €10m for the player’s 18-month loan.
“I am so happy to be here. The important thing is to have fun when you play,” Kulusevski said in his first interview with Tottenham’s YouTube channel.
He went on recalling his experience in Italy. “I moved to Atalanta in Bergamo when I was 15, it was fun, but also hard, I missed my family so much, even these days, but now it’s different.
“It was a fantastic experience and I remember everything about that time. I spent a year on loan at Parma and I felt after just a few days, I was getting comfortable and from there, I enjoyed my football.
“At Juventus, I had two intensive years with two different coaches. I learnt a lot there, playing with some of the best players in the world. It was a great experience, but the Premier League is the best league in the world, the one we always watch in Sweden.
“It’s just another world. I was always thinking: ‘When can I go there, when can I go there.’ Then the opportunity came and I didn’t think twice.”
Kulusevski signed with the Old Lady in a €44m deal in January 2020 but remained on loan at Parma until the end of the campaign and moved to Turin in September before the beginning of 2020-21.
Antonio Conte’s Inter were also interested in securing his services at that time and the 21-year-old has now the opportunity to work with the former Italy coach.
“I am looking forward to playing with the coach. I’ve known him from Inter, he is a winner and that’s what I wanna be,” the former Juve winger said.
“It’s also part of why I came here. I am going to listen to him, he knows what he is talking about and his teams always work really hard and that’s what I love.”
LOL what a faker! He rejected Inter because Conte did not have a special role for him in the 3-5-2.
clown
you rejected Conte and prefer Sarri’s method last year
lol
@JAG
Sarri humiliated Conte twice, in San Siro and in Allianz Stadium, 4:1 in two matches, lol
@JAG: what are you talking about?
Sarri was sacked by Rubentus, even though he won the title.
Inter preferred Inzaghi over Conte`s antics.
We are thankful for you leaving – hope you help Tottenham make Champions League so that you can stay there !!!!!
